Landman sells itself as pure West Texas — pumpjacks, dust, and Billy Bob Thornton's Tommy Norris putting out fires across the Permian Basin oil patch. The show is set in Midland. But point your truck at Midland to find the filming locations and you'll be about 300 miles off. Here's where Taylor Sheridan's oil drama really shoots — and which spots you can walk into today.

Landman is filmed in and around Fort Worth, Texas. The production is based there, interiors shoot at SGS Studios in the Alliance Corridor, and the city's neighborhoods stand in for Midland throughout both seasons — season 1 premiered in November 2024 and season 2 followed on Paramount+ on November 16, 2025. Additional filming has spilled into Weatherford, Jacksboro, Young County, Dallas, and even a few spots in Oklahoma.

Thornton, for one, isn't complaining:

"If I could shoot everything I do in Fort Worth, I would," he told The Dallas Morning News.

Fort Worth spots you can actually visit

  • The Stockyards — the historic district hosts a real daily cattle drive, and two on-screen landmarks: the White Elephant Saloon, Fort Worth's oldest bar, where the cast dances in season 2 episode 6, and Cattlemen's Steak House from episode 3.
  • TCU — the campus appears in both seasons, including Angela and Ainsley's college tour in the season 2 premiere and season 1's track meet.
  • Downtown — Sundance Square and the Petroleum Club of Fort Worth supply the show's corporate polish, and the Worthington hotel's Toro Toro restaurant hosts a season 2 scene. The show even filmed inside the real headquarters of the American Association of Professional Landmen.
  • Oakwood Cemetery — where Monty Miller is laid to rest in season 2, on Grand Avenue just outside downtown.

What's real and what's a set

Some fan-favorite locations are movie magic. The Patch Cafe, the crew's Odessa breakfast spot, is an old auto body shop on Camp Bowie West Boulevard — its inspiration was the long-running Pioneer Cafe in Goldsmith, near Odessa. The "Midland Country Club" is a golf course northwest of Fort Worth, and the Odessa police station is really the Jacksboro Police Department. The nursing home Angela and Ainsley liven up is a genuine facility in Weatherford.

Does Landman ever film in the real Midland–Odessa?

It does. Ratliff Stadium in Odessa — famous from Friday Night Lights — appears in a Permian High School football scene, and the show name-checks real local institutions like Boomtown Babes Espresso. So a true completist road trip runs both directions: Fort Worth for the sets, the Permian Basin for the soul.
