Where does Worst Neighbor Ever take place? Every case comes with real bodycam footage from the street in question

The four episodes are set in Mount Sterling, Kentucky; the Richmond Hill subdivision of Indianapolis, Indiana; Oakland, California; and Sherman Oaks in Los Angeles. Two southern-California cases, one Midwestern, one small-town Kentucky — a deliberate spread across suburb, city, and rural community.

The four locations

• Episode 1, "She Finally Snapped" — Mount Sterling, Kentucky. Shawna and David Scott move to be near family and end up across the street from Frances Zaayer, an old acquaintance. In 2018 Zaayer crossed the road and opened fire, killing David, a Montgomery County deputy jailer, and seriously injuring Shawna. Zaayer pleaded guilty in January 2022 and was sentenced to 35 years.
• Episode 2, "Midwest Meltdown" — Richmond Hill, Indianapolis. Monserrate "Moncy" Shirley and boyfriend Mark Leonard blew up her house in a 2012 insurance scheme. The gas explosion killed two neighbors, injured dozens, and damaged much of the subdivision.
• Episode 3, "Fear Thy Neighbor" — Oakland, California. Miles and Melina Armstead's neighbor Jamal Thomas was evicted and ran a harassment campaign against the family despite repeated police involvement. It ended in 2020.
• Episode 4, "The Executor" — Sherman Oaks, California. An estate fraud case: Caroline Herrling and associates targeted an elderly man, Charles Wilding, and it was neighbors reporting oddities that triggered the investigation.

Is it actually filmed there

Partly. The series is built from interviews with residents, families, and law enforcement, plus real police bodycam footage and 911 audio from the incidents themselves. For anything the cameras missed — the notes on windshields, the years of escalation before anyone called anyone — the show uses animation rather than actors, a choice carried over from Worst Roommate Ever and Worst Ex Ever.

Who made it

Cynthia Childs directed all four episodes, having previously worked on Worst Ex Ever. Jason Blum's Blumhouse Television produces. It's the third entry in Netflix 's "Worst Ever" franchise, and the first to swap the roommate and the ex for someone you can't move away from without selling a house.

For the record: the Richmond Hill explosion case generated one of the largest criminal proceedings in Marion County history, with the trials moved out of Indianapolis entirely because finding an unaffected jury there proved impossible.
