What would Thomasin McKenzie's dream 'Lord of the Rings' return look like?
An actor wants back into Lord of the Rings — and the name may not be who you expect.
During a sit-down on Collider’s Ladies Night with host Perri Nemiroff, Thomasin McKenzie didn’t hesitate when the “pick-a-franchise ” question came up. Even after Nemiroff initially crossed off The Lord of the Rings because McKenzie technically appeared in Peter Jackson ’s Hobbit trilogy, the New Zealander made her case.
“I actually probably would go with the Lord of the Rings,” she said.
McKenzie pointed out that her part in The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies was so blink-and-you’ll-miss-it that most viewers wouldn’t spot her unless they knew exactly where to look. That “minuscule” cameo, she suggested, leaves the door open for a proper return to Middle-earth. There’s no such role announced, but the interest is clear.
McKenzie first stepped into Jackson’s Middle-earth as a teenager and has since built a résumé that bounces between indie gems and big studio projects. Recent highlights include:

Becoming Audrey
Her next big swing is playing Audrey Hepburn in the upcoming film Dinner with Audrey. In the same interview, McKenzie called Hepburn her “top icon ever” and talked about the responsibility of portraying someone who looms so large in her own life and in Hollywood history.
“And so I think the thing that like while filming it, the thing that I kept coming back to was that she really just wanted to be loved,” she said.
McKenzie added that she wrapped Dinner with Audrey only a couple of months before the interview. She also has The Uprising on the way, appearing alongside Andrew Garfield.
