What Tracker actor passed away? Fact-checking the viral death posts
If a Facebook post just informed you that a Tracker star "died suddenly," you're one of many thousands who've seen some version of that claim since 2025. So let's settle it with what's actually verifiable, as of August 2026.
The short answer
No Tracker cast member has died. Not a series regular, not an original cast member. The viral posts announcing a sudden death — most of them naming Abby McEnany, who played Velma Bruin — are fabricated. Justin Hartley, Fiona Rene, Eric Graise, Abby McEnany, and Robin Weigert are all alive.
Where the posts came from
The claims trace back to unofficial Facebook fan pages pushing engagement-bait articles with headlines like "Tracker Star Abby McEnany Dies Suddenly at 57." The rumor spread widely enough in May 2025 that Snopes formally fact-checked it — one post alone had racked up 12,000 reactions and 2,500 shares. The verdict was unambiguous:
"McEnany's agent confirmed in an email that the rumor was false," Snopes reported in May 2025.
No credible outlet has ever reported the death of anyone in the Tracker cast. The same pages have since recycled the format with vaguer headlines — "former guest star passes away," "cast mourns sudden loss" — that never actually name a person, which is the tell.
Why the hoax felt believable
Because real cast news was happening at the same time. Tracker genuinely did lose people ahead of season 3 — just not to anything tragic:
- Abby McEnany (Velma Bruin) — departed the show ahead of season 3, as TVLine reported in July 2025. Alive and well.
- Eric Graise (Bobby Exley) — an original cast member, also out ahead of season 3 in the same shake-up.
- Robin Weigert (Teddi Bruin) — written out after season 1, back in 2024.
That left Hartley's Colter Shaw and Fiona Rene's Reenie Green as the only remaining regulars when season 3 premiered on CBS on October 19, 2025. "Tracker loses cast member" headlines were real. The death part was invented.
Nobody who has appeared on Tracker as a main cast member has passed away. If a new post claims otherwise, check whether it names a person, cites an outlet, and appears anywhere beyond Facebook. So far, every single one has failed all three tests.
Everyone's fine — Colter Shaw included.
