Don’t write off Wanda Maximoff yet—the case for her MCU comeback points to VisionQuest, with bolder theories tying her to Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday.

Early episodes of VisionQuest keep Wanda front and center without actually bringing her back. White Vision is walking around with the original Vision’s memories now, and that includes the life he built with Wanda Maximoff. He even points back to the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, recalling that she was crushed when Mount Wundagore collapsed—his way of saying he believes she died there.

The show still leaves a crack in the door. One character pointedly suggests that when witches, spells, and hexes are in play, something tends to survive. That doesn’t confirm Wanda’s return, but it does keep the idea alive in a universe where death is rarely the end.

There’s another wrinkle: the story weaves in Tommy Maximoff and his own improbable survival, which ties directly into the lingering chaos magic around Wanda and her children. So far, Elizabeth Olsen hasn’t turned up in the present day, and Wanda’s presence comes through memories and mentions rather than a full on-screen return.

  • No on-screen Wanda comeback in VisionQuest (so far)
  • Vision believes she died under Mount Wundagore
  • A character hints “something survives” when witchcraft is involved
  • Tommy Maximoff’s survival keeps the magic thread active
  • Olsen is not confirmed for the series’ current timeline

Doom on the horizon

Speculation is now spilling over into Avengers: Doomsday. Recent promos teased mysterious, hooded witches tied to Doctor Doom’s corner of the story, and some fans think the Scarlet Witch could be among them—possibly as an ally to Doom or a weapon at his side in a film that mashes together heroes from different universes.

Important caveat: there’s no official confirmation that Olsen appears in the movie, and Marvel ’s announced cast list doesn’t include her. Reporting on those cloaked witches has also cooled some of the “Wanda with Doom” theories, and the studio’s secrecy playbook—reportedly handing out different script versions to cast—means even the people making the movie may not have the full picture.

One more rumor fueling the chatter: Robert Downey Jr. is reportedly back at Marvel as Doctor Doom, not Iron Man. Add in word that comics architect Jonathan Hickman has given input on the film, and the idea of a powerhouse magic-user standing beside Doom becomes an especially spicy possibility—again, unconfirmed, but very much part of the conversation.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters December 18, 2026.
