‘VisionQuest’ cast and characters: the stars of Marvel’s sequel to ‘WandaVision’

James Spader is back as Ultron , and this time the killer AI isn’t just a disembodied voice. In VisionQuest, Ultron reportedly shows up both in robotic form and as an unnervingly human avatar inside Vision’s mind — the first time Spader has played the role since 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. Paul Bettany returns as Vision, whose internal debate with his worst impulse gets very literal.

The setup

The first trailer frames Vision trying out a low-key human life — pulling pints at a pub, attempting “normal.” Seeking direction, he turns to the familiar AI voices embedded in his programming: F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., and J.A.R.V.I.S. They’re not his only inner counsel, though; Ultron is the voice he can’t quite mute. Layer in a vengeful Jocasta and a relentless mercenary on his trail, and Vision’s quiet phase doesn’t last long.

Cast and characters

• Paul Bettany — Vision
• James Spader — Ultron (as a robot and in human form inside Vision’s head)
• Ruaridh Mollica — Tommy Maximoff/Thomas Shepherd (reportedly raised as an orphan in London, surviving by pickpocketing)
• Lauren Morais — Lisa Molinari (known in Marvel comics as Coat of Arms)
• Todd Stashwick — Paladin, a morally gray bounty hunter tracking Vision
• Diane Morgan — an associate of Paladin
• Faran Tahir — Raza, returning from the first Iron Man
• T’Nia Miller — Jocasta, described as cunning, powerful, and revenge- driven (in the comics, a robot Ultron built to be his bride)
• Emily Hampshire — E.D.I.T.H.
• Orla Brady — F.R.I.D.A.Y.
• James D’Arcy — J.A.R.V.I.S.

Tommy’s presence ties the show directly back to WandaVision, where he and his brother Billy were conjured into being by Wanda in Westview. It ’s unclear if VisionQuest will reunite Tommy with Billy — played by Joe Locke in Agatha All Along — but Tommy appears to be the strongest connective thread to that story.

VisionQuest premieres October 14, 2026 on Disney+ .
