John Wick star Keanu Reeves has lined up his next action-thriller — and wait till you hear what it’s called.

Keanu Reeves is set to lead Kill Current, a CIA thriller adapting Oliver Lowe’s yet-to-be-published novel Kill Current: A Jon Hendricks Thriller, according to Deadline. Reeves will also produce through Two Dragonflies — the new banner he launched with artist Alexandra Grant — with independent studio The Arena financing and producing.

The story centers on Jon Hendricks, a burned-out CIA operative pulled back into the game to take revenge on the protégé he trained and lost. Framed as a globe-trotting, high-stakes chase with shifting alliances and a fight over the world’s most valuable assets, Lowe’s book is planned as the first in a series.

This is the first film out of Two Dragonflies, which Reeves and Grant set up to develop stories across film, TV, animation, games, comics and more. Molly Stern and her publishing company Zando will executive produce, while The Arena — the indie outfit founded by former Lionsgate film boss Erik Feig — acquired the rights ahead of publication.

It ’s the first project from Reeves and Alexandra Grant’s Two Dragonflies banner.

Where this leaves John Wick

Reeves will still be on screens as John Wick in Ballerina in 2025, a spinoff led by Ana de Armas. A fifth mainline John Wick has been floated but not confirmed after Chapter 4 appeared to close the book on Wick; meanwhile, Lionsgate is building out the universe with Caine, centered on Donnie Yen’s blind assassin introduced in Chapter 4.

Beyond Kill Current, Reeves has more on deck:

  • Ballerina — John Wick spinoff slated for 2025; Reeves appears as Wick.
  • Shiver — a sci-fi feature directed by Tim Miller.
  • The Entertainment System Is Down — the next film from Ruben Östlund (Triangle of Sadness).

The first Kill Current novel will be published by Zando in May 2027 .
