Tom Holland and Zendaya Share the Goofy Nicknames They Call Their Pups
Tom Holland and Zendaya offer a rare peek at life with their very different dogs — and the contrast is half the charm.
During a chaotic BuzzFeed Celeb puppy interview tied to Spider- Man: Brand New Day , Tom Holland and Zendaya spent more time fending off tiny paws than talking plot. Somewhere between squeaks and snuggles, they let slip the goofy nicknames they use at home for their own dogs.
“Yeah. We got the Chunky One, we got Duty, Cheesesteak,” Zendaya said on BuzzFeed Celeb.
Holland added, “Phil gets called the Chunky Man a lot.”
Under the nicknames, there’s a real pack. Here’s who’s who at their place:
- Noon — a Miniature Schnauzer who originally belonged to Zendaya
- Daphne — a Doberman Pinscher
- Phil — a pocket bully adopted from a shelter in Oakland in 2026
Zendaya mentioned the newest addition in an Elle interview published in May, admitting the timing wasn’t ideal but calling the pocket bully a great fit for their family. Holland’s longtime dog Tessa, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, died in 2024.
Kids keep receipts
Elsewhere on the promo trail, Holland dropped by Celebrity Substitute to field questions from a classroom of New York City students — a tougher crowd than puppies. One kid went straight for his Achilles’ heel: spoilers.
“He spoils everything before movies even release. ”
Host Julian Shapiro-Barnum called the shot harsh but fair, given Holland’s history of loose-lipped moments around Marvel projects. Among them:
- Posting an Avengers sequel poster online ahead of time
- Confirming the Spider-Man trilogy game plan early
- Letting slip that Peter Parker would head to space before the film revealed it
Even during the Celebrity Substitute taping, a question about a possible Tobey Maguire appearance almost tripped him up — but this time, he dodged it entirely.
