‘The Gentlemen 2’ Meghan Markle casting rumors? Theo James says 'a lot of hot air'

Asked point-blank about chatter that Meghan Markle might join a future season of The Gentlemen, star Theo James couldn’t resist a jab before setting the record straight in a new Town & Country interview.

“Yes, Fergie is joining. She’ll be playing my love interest.”

Then he shut the door on the speculation.

“No, I think [reports of Markle joining the show] was mainly a lot of hot air.”

James added that his focus is squarely on the new batch of episodes: “At the moment, we’re just trying to get as many eyes on season two, and then season three will happen soon,” he told Town & Country.

Season 3 on deck

Netflix renewed season 3 in August 2026 with Guy Ritchie returning to direct. Beyond that, James acknowledged the specifics are still unsettled. That tracks with Netflix UK scripted chief Manda Levin, who said “all bets are off” when asked about Markle at the Edinburgh TV Festival.

What season 2 brings

The new chapter picks up one year after Eddie Horniman and Susie Glass got pulled into Bobby Glass’ empire. Their ambitions now stretch to Italy’s lake country, as they set their sights on a string of gleaming lakeside villas. Benedetta Porcaroli’s Bella enters Eddie’s orbit this season too, with a romance brewing between them.

Complicating it all: Bobby’s increasingly erratic decisions, which threaten to blow up Eddie and Susie’s carefully laid plans.
