If you’re wondering what’s actually going on with The Batman Part II’s production pause, Robert Pattinson spells it out.

On the red carpet at the BFI London Film Festival — where he’s premiering his latest release, Primetime — Robert Pattinson was asked about the brief halt in filming on The Batman Part II. He didn’t duck the question, offering a short, steadying update.

“We’re pausing for a little bit … and then we are going to figure it all out.”

According to studio representatives, director Matt Reeves remains firmly in charge of the sequel and has the full backing of DC Studios. They say principal photography has been paused while Reeves attends to personal matters, but second‑unit work has continued during the stoppage.

The shift is the latest schedule wrinkle for the follow-up to 2022’s Gotham hit, which had been eyeing a late 2027 window before moving into early 2028.

Knock-on effects for DC’s Batman plans

DC Studios co-chief James Gunn has said he wants to avoid overlapping Batmen, aiming to release his in-universe feature The Brave and the Bold only after Reeves’ sequel hits theaters. With Part II pushed, Gunn’s project waits in line; its script and cast haven’t been announced yet.

  • Director — Matt Reeves remains at the helm
  • Status — brief production pause; second-unit shooting ongoing
  • U.S. release — February 18, 2028
