Success sparks sequel: Netflix partners with NASA for another live space stream
Netflix is lining up a new NASA live stream after its first space event stuck the landing — and you’ll want to know what they’ll show this time.
The next launch on Netflix is a full-on crewed flight: the streamer will carry NASA ’s official feed for the SpaceX Crew-13 mission as four astronauts head to the International Space Station. It ’s the second time Netflix has teamed with NASA for a live broadcast, and this one follows the crew from countdown to liftoff with mission control audio and commentary intact.
Coverage starts Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. ET / 6:30 a.m. PT on Netflix.
You won’t need an extra app or a special plan to watch on Netflix, and NASA’s own free streams on its website and YouTube remain available. Netflix is rebroadcasting NASA’s live production, so viewers get the same real-time check-ins and camera angles the agency provides ahead of the targeted liftoff.
Who’s on board
This flight is NASA’s 13th commercial crew rotation to the station. The four-person team is slated to work on science experiments in orbit into 2027.
- Jessica Watkins — commander (NASA)
- Luke Delaney — pilot (NASA)
- Joshua Kutryk — astronaut, Canadian Space Agency
- Sergey Teteryatnikov — cosmonaut, Roscosmos
Why Netflix is back
Netflix’s first round of NASA programming delivered measurable interest: streams tied to Artemis II in April 2026 — including the flyby and splashdown — generated 3.8 million viewing hours across 600,000 views. Those numbers were strong enough to cue up another live mission.
Warm up with space docs
If you want a primer before liftoff, Netflix has a small constellation of space titles ready to go:
- Our Universe (2022) — Six-part series narrated by Morgan Freeman that links the birth of the cosmos to life on Earth.
- Alien Worlds (2020) — Four episodes narrated by Sophie Okonedo imagining ecosystems on exoplanets with real science.
- Black Holes: The Edge of All We Know — Inside the global push to capture the first image of a black hole.
- Return to Space — A look at SpaceX and NASA preparing crewed missions to the ISS with astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley.
- Challenger: The Final Flight — Four-part series examining the 1986 Space Shuttle Challenger disaster.
NASA’s Crew-13 launch streams live on Netflix Thursday, October 1, with coverage beginning at 9:30 a.m. ET / 6:30 a.m. PT.
