Spider-Man: Brand New Day eyes Sony’s second-biggest debut ever
Spider-Man: Brand New Day could deliver opening-day numbers so massive they’d mark a historic moment for Sony — but how high might it swing?
Ticket sales are already pointing to a blowout return for Spider- Man: Brand New Day . According to Deadline, the film is projected to launch with about $465 million worldwide, which would rank as Sony’s second-biggest global opening ever behind Spider-Man: No Way Home (which debuted north of $600 million). In North America, presales are reportedly around $80 million—slightly ahead of No Way Home’s $78 million pace, per the outlet.

It ’s been nearly four years since Tom Holland last swung into theaters as Peter Parker. No Way Home left him anonymous and cut off from MJ and Ned; this new chapter sends him into bigger threats, nastier enemies and—maybe the scariest twist—an unknown mutation, with a darker, more grounded path for the character.
Holland on returning
All that box office heat could shape where the franchise goes next. A fifth Spider-Man movie has been the subject of nonstop fan chatter, but no official greenlight yet. Asked point-blank if he’ll suit up again, Holland said he’s in—if the studios want him back—and hinted the decision may ride on how this movie performs.
“I will do it for as long as they’ll have me. So if this movie does good, I guess we’ll see!”
Holland previously spooked fans in GQ by saying he didn’t want to keep playing Spider-Man after turning 30, but later admitted he was “trying to scare Sony” and jokingly bumped that number to 37.
