Reports: Meghan Markle’s potential Netflix acting gig that fueled UK return falls through
Meghan Markle’s shot at a Netflix role may be wobbling amid UK backlash — though newer reports suggest the talks aren’t over.
Netflix just rolled out fresh momentum for The Gentlemen with a new Season 2 trailer and a third-season pickup, but one name that’s been buzzing around the show was nowhere in the announcement: Meghan Markle. According to Entertainment Tonight, the Duchess of Sussex was being discussed for a role in the series, only for the plan to reportedly hit a roadblock amid backlash in the U.K. tied to speculation that she and Prince Harry could spend more time there.
Conflicting chatter has followed — some reports say the opportunity may have been pulled, while others insist the door isn’t closed. No official casting has been announced by Netflix or Guy Ritchie, and Markle’s possible involvement remains up in the air.
"What I'm told is that Guy Richie is very up for this. Netflix is very up for it. They know that is going to put bums on seats. You are going to get a huge audience watching to see Megan's first role as the Duchess of Sussex,"
royal watcher Katie Nicholl said on Entertainment Tonight, noting Markle’s name was absent from the Season 2 rollout.
