Rebel Wilson Drops 80 Pounds but Refuses to Chase a Bikini Body
After shedding 80 pounds, Rebel Wilson is opening up on Instagram about embracing strength and health over the bikini-body ideal.
Rebel Wilson just got very real about where she is with health and body image, and honestly, it is refreshingly normal. No magic fix, no vague platitudes. Just what she is doing, what she is not, and why she is fine with it.
What she posted and what she said
On Tuesday, April 1, the 46-year-old Pitch Perfect alum jumped on Instagram with a fitness check-in, sharing a shot of herself in a Nike sports bra and mid-rise gym shorts and talking about life after dropping roughly 80 pounds. Wilson does not think she is headed for the classic bikini-body narrative, and she is not mad about it.
"I don’t think I’ll ever have a bikini body - that’s just not me. But my body has carried me through this life and I am so grateful for it!"
She also laid out the very un-fancy routine she is trying to keep up with and gave a nod to anyone juggling health while, you know, also living an actual life.
- Daily steps are the baseline.
- Pilates once or twice a week, plus some strength training.
- Eating as healthy as she can, with a sweet tooth that is not going anywhere.
- She mentioned using "GLP's" here and there — that is shorthand many people use for GLP-1 medications that can help manage appetite. Not a lot of stars say that out loud; she just did.
She wrapped the update by shouting out working moms and anyone trying to be their healthiest while dealing with a lot. It is the kind of post that feels aimed at the real world, not a wellness brochure.
How she got here
Wilson has talked before about why she kicked off her weight-loss effort in the first place. Back in July 2021, she said a fertility consultation was the spark — a doctor told her she would have a better chance if she got healthier. By then she had already lost about 65 pounds. In her words at the time, the goal was about future- kid planning more than vanity — she wanted to boost the odds for freezing eggs and improve egg quality.
By 2022, she was down around 80 pounds. Then came the part nobody puts on a motivational poster: real life. In 2023, she told the Daily Mail that her weight went back up after her daughter arrived — even though she did not carry the pregnancy herself. The culprits were the usual suspects for new parents: not sleeping much and a totally different schedule. It is a human answer, and it tracks.
Family update
Wilson and her wife, Ramona Agruma, welcomed their daughter, Royce, via surrogate in 2022. And there is more baby news: Agruma is currently pregnant with their second child, a girl.
If you are keeping score, the throughline here is pretty simple: Rebel is grateful for the body she has, she is doing what she can when she can, and she is not pretending it is a straight line. That honesty is the point.
