Oscar winner Hannah Beachler returns to steer ‘Black Panther 3’ production design
Black Panther 3 is bringing an Oscar-winning production designer back to Wakanda, with the upcoming credits quietly confirming the familiar hire.
If the new credit sticks, the person who gave Wakanda its Afrofuturist skyline, tribal-tech interiors and seamless “real world” logic is back to chart the next chapter. An update to Hannah Beachler’s IMDb page now lists Black Panther 3 among her upcoming projects, and the film ’s IMDb credits also name her as production designer — a return to the job of building the country audiences fell in love with.
Production design isn’t just about great-looking sets. It ’s the blueprint for how a movie ’s world functions — architecture, locations, props and the visual rules that connect them. On Black Panther, Beachler developed Wakanda as a full-fledged civilization with its own architectural language; on Wakanda Forever, director Ryan Coogler pushed her to craft two distinct screen worlds as the story expanded beyond Wakanda’s borders.
In 2019, Beachler became the first Black winner of the Production Design Oscar for Black Panther, sharing the award with set decorator Jay Hart.
Beyond Wakanda
Beachler’s world-building chops stretch far past superheroes. Her résumé moves easily between intimate dramas, music films and big-scale mythmaking:

As of now, both Beachler’s profile and the film’s page on IMDb list her as production designer for Black Panther 3. IMDb credits can change before or during production, but if this holds, it keeps one of Wakanda’s original architects at the center of the franchise ’s look and feel.
