No, Shameik Moore Isn’t in Spider-Man: Brand New Day — Rumor Debunked
Shameik Moore’s link to the Spider-Man films is in the spotlight — and so is the question of his chances of playing Miles Morales in live-action.
After weeks of breathless rumor-tracking, the new Spidey movie lands without the moment some fans were hoping for: there’s no live-action Miles Morales cameo and no surprise appearance from the character’s longtime voice, Shameik Moore. A post-credits scene reportedly hints at a new hero, but it isn’t a Miles reveal.
Shameik Moore does not appear in Spider- Man: Brand New Day.
The speculation surge made sense. Off the multiverse fireworks of Spider-Man: No Way Home and the cultural footprint of Sony’s animated Spider-Verse films, Miles has never been more popular. Marvel and Sony kept quiet before release, which only added fuel to the casting guesses.
Moore’s stance
Moore has made it clear he’s game to put on the suit. Speaking with Entertainment Tonight at CinemaCon in Las Vegas in April 2023, he said he’d love to play Miles in live action, would throw himself into the role, and believes his work to date shows what he’d bring to it. He also acknowledged Marvel might have other plans when it comes to casting.
What he’s doing now
For now, Moore remains the definitive voice of Miles in Sony’s animated saga. He’s set to reprise the role in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, which recently unveiled a first look.
- Dope (2015) — breakout role that drew critical praise
- The Get Down — Baz Luhrmann’s 1970s-set Netflix series
- Wu-Tang: An American Saga — Hulu ’s hip-hop drama
- Cut Throat City — RZA’s post-Katrina heist film
As for the MCU, Tom Holland and Marvel Studios have reportedly said Miles Morales is expected to join the franchise eventually, but there’s no casting or timeline officially confirmed.
