Father of 12 Nick Cannon admits he has a dating double standard for his 15-year-old twins — encouraging son Moroccan to date while pumping the brakes on daughter Monroe — a candid reveal he dropped over the weekend.

Nick Cannon said the quiet part out loud: he lets his teenage son date, but not his twin daughter. And yes, he knows it is a double standard. Here is what he actually said and how it fits into the bigger Nick Cannon parenting story.

What he said on the podcast

On Saturday, May 2, the 45-year-old 'The Masked Singer' host (and 'America's Got Talent' alum) went on 'The TMZ Podcast' and volunteered that his 15-year-old son Moroccan is dating — with dad's blessing and encouragement. When the host asked if that same green light applied to Moroccan's twin sister Monroe, Cannon cut it off: absolutely not.

He flat-out called it a double standard and said he parents sons and daughters differently. In his words, he gets in trouble because he tends to say things with his chest, but he stands by being more protective of his daughter. He pointed to the kinds of people he wants to keep her away from and the realities he feels he has to guard against.

The line that tells you everything

'If somebody puts their hands on my daughter, I'm going to jail. If some man puts his hands on my daughter, it's my worst nightmare because I am going to jail forever.'

Where the twins fit in Cannon's very large family

Cannon shares Moroccan and Monroe with ex-wife Mariah Carey. He is a father of 12 overall — 11 living — and he is unusually candid about it. For the scoreboard watchers:

  • With Brittany Bell: sons Golden Sagon and Rise Messiah, and daughter Powerful Queen
  • With Abby De La Rosa: twin sons Zion Mixolydian and Zillion Heir, and daughter Beautiful Zeppelin
  • With Bre Tiesi: son Legendary Love
  • With LaNisha Cole: daughter Onyx Ice Cole
  • With Alyssa Scott: daughter Halo Marie; their son Zen died in December 2021 from a brain tumor

How this matches what he has said before

Cannon gets plenty of heat for having a dozen kids with multiple partners, and he has not exactly ducked the topic. In a September 15, 2025 interview on 'The Breakfast Club,' he framed his whirlwind fatherhood as a response to his split from Carey. He said he did not slow down until therapy forced him to, that he kept grinding — making money, staying hot, staying funny — and then suddenly realized he was 12 kids in. He admitted he could have done things differently, but he also said he stands by his choices because he loves his kids and the family setup he has now, even if he believes it all started from pain and not healing the right way.

So, yes, he is openly running a double standard at home. And he is not pretending otherwise.
