Warner Bros. is heading back to the Wizarding World with a sequel to its open-world adventure—new possibilities promised.

Warner Bros. tucked the news into its latest shareholder letter dated Aug. 13: a second Hogwarts Legacy game is officially in development. The company didn’t attach a subtitle, window, or platforms to the announcement — just a clear signal that players will be heading back to the Wizarding World for another open-world adventure.

Confirmed Aug. 13: a new Hogwarts Legacy game is in development.

The studio is keeping specifics locked down for now. There’s no release date, title, trailer, platform list, or gameplay rundown, and it ’s still unknown whether Avalanche Software — the team behind the first game — will return to lead the sequel.

The first game’s setup

Launched in 2023, Hogwarts Legacy sent players to the 1800s, long before Harry’s story, and cast them as a fifth-year student with the rare ability to wield ancient magic. It mixed exploration of Hogwarts and its grounds with attending classes, learning spells, and digging into a mystery threatening the wizarding world.

  • Customizable characters and house selection
  • Magical creatures and potion-making
  • Talent upgrades and a robust combat system

The game was a major commercial success for Warner Bros., which helps explain why a full follow-up is getting the greenlight — even if the particulars are still under wraps.

Elsewhere in WB games

Warner Bros. also flagged another big project on its slate: LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, an open-world action- adventure from TT Games. It tracks Bruce Wayne’s early years on the road to becoming Gotham’s Dark Knight, blending an original story with nods to Batman’s history across movies, comics, and games.

  • Explore a detailed LEGO Gotham and battle well-known villains
  • Customize the Batcave
  • Local two-player co-op

As for the Hogwarts follow-up, the only official word today is that it exists. There’s no release date, title, trailer, platforms, or gameplay information yet, and Warner Bros. hasn’t said who’s leading development.
