Netflix Confirms the Fate of Emily in Paris — And When It Ends

Netflix just put a bow on Emily in Paris: the upcoming season 6 is the last. And yes, they decided that right as cameras started rolling in Greece. Here is where that leaves the show, the love geometry, and everyone teasing what comes next.

Season 6 is the finale

The streamer confirmed on Thursday, May 21, that season 6 will wrap the series.

"Making Emily in Paris with this extraordinary cast and crew has been the trip of a lifetime," creator Darren Star said. "As we embark on the final season, I am so grateful to Netflix, Paramount, and, most importantly, the fans who have taken this incredible journey with us."

"We can’t wait to share this last chapter with you. Thank you for letting us be a part of your lives, inspiring your dreams of travel and your love of Paris. We will always have 'Emily in Paris!'"

Quick refresher: where we left everyone

• Emily moved from the U.S. to France for work, then landed in a love triangle with chef Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) and banker Alfie (Lucien Laviscount).
• Emily eventually hit reset with Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini). By the end of season 4, Gabriel decided he was ready to fight for her, but Emily had already moved to Rome and started building a future with Marcello.
• Season 5 brought Emily and her crew back to Paris, with a finale detour in Venice.
• In the last scene, we checked in on Gabriel, who was working on a boat about to dock in Greece — setting up an invitation for Emily to come visit.
• There is also a postcard from Gabriel to Emily floating around in this mix, which may or may not reach her.

What the cast and creator are hinting at

Lucas Bravo, 38, told Us Weekly in May that the new season is headed to Greece and Monaco. At the time, he had not seen scripts yet, but he is firmly rooting for Gabriel and Emily to finally get their shot. That said, he also figures that whoever Emily picks will be the right call because, well, Emily tends to know what she wants.

Lily Collins, 37, is playing it coy about that postcard. She says season 6 takes them to Greece, but she had not read anything when she last talked about it — and she points out that things can get lost in the mail. Her bottom line: she is happy when Emily is happy.

Darren Star, 64, is also leaning toward an Emily-and-Gabriel reunion in spirit, but he will not promise anything. He notes Emily has options — including some new ones — so do not assume a straight line to endgame.
