NCIS Season Finale Puts McGee’s Relationship—and Heart—On the Line

McGee is about to get walloped

Diona Reasonover, who plays Kasie Hines, says McGee is headed for a curveball that hits him where it hurts: his relationship and his heart. Not the kind of twist you spot coming from a mile away.

Sean Murray (48), who has been telegraphing a bigger arc for McGee this season, already had one of those big swings play out on March 17 in episode 12, when McGee discovered he has a teenage son from a past relationship. Back in November 2025, Murray described how pushing himself forward sometimes lands McGee in situations that scare him as much as they shape him, and you can feel that playing out now.

The director chair is empty, and the guesses are not subtle

Leon Vance is gone. In the March 24 episode, a CID agent shot and killed him inside the NCIS office, and the show has been dangling the question of who takes over ever since. Katrina Law (40), who plays Jessica Knight, said the pick is still 'so up in the air' and then strongly hinted at an internal shake-up. Translation: fans are not wild for thinking McGee might move up the ladder. Her tease was basically, you never know who might show up, move up, or even come back, delivered with the kind of smirk that says, yes, you should read into this a little.

Reasonover is playing coy on whether McGee's end-of-season shocker is tied to the Vance fallout. She says we will have to wait a bit longer to find out who gets that director title, which sounds a lot like the show is saving the reveal for season 24.

Kasie tightens the screws, the finale leaves you yelling at the TV

As for Kasie, Reasonover says she locks in to keep the team steady because some explosive stuff hits the rest of the squad. Expect a bona fide cliffhanger and, in her words, more questions than answers once the credits roll. So, yes, plan for that text thread to light up after the episode ends.
