Name change: Margot Robbie takes husband Tom Ackerley’s surname
Margot Robbie has made a long-delayed switch: after ten years of marriage, she has officially taken her husband’s last name.
The change quietly surfaced in recent Companies House filings tied to LuckyChap Entertainment , the Los Angeles–based banner Robbie co-founded. In those documents, she’s listed under her married name, Margot Ackerley — a legal update coming nearly a decade after her private wedding to producer Tom Ackerley in Byron Bay in December 2016. On screen, she’s expected to keep the marquee name audiences know: Margot Robbie.
LuckyChap launched in 2014 with Robbie, Ackerley, and partners Josey McNamara and Sophia Kerr, and has since stacked an eye-catching slate: Barbie , Saltburn, I, Tonya, Birds of Prey, and Netflix ’s Maid. The new filing simply updates Robbie’s legal status inside the company’s paperwork while the professional credit “Margot Robbie” continues to front its projects.
The Ocean’s prequel is dated for June 25, 2027.
Next up: an Ocean’s caper
Robbie is set to headline and produce, via LuckyChap, a Warner Bros. Ocean’s prequel directed by and co-starring Bradley Cooper. Set within Steven Soderbergh’s heist universe, the movie pairs Robbie and Cooper as parents schooling their kids — younger versions of Danny and Debbie (originated by George Clooney and Sandra Bullock) — in the art of high-end thievery. A first-look image has already been released.
The ensemble includes:
- Vicky Krieps
- George MacKay
- Omar Sy
- Monica Barbaro
- Josh Gad
- Lauren Ridloff
- Wagner Moura — the film ’s central villain
Written by Carrie Solomon with additional co-writing from Cooper, the production is underway in Monaco. Warner Bros. has set the theatrical release for June 25, 2027.
