Michael Mando Fired From Apple’s Sinking Spring After On-Set Clash With Co-Star
Michael Mando has, at last, addressed his abrupt exit from Apple TV+’s Sinking Spring in a new interview.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Michael Mando exited Apple TV+ ’s crime drama Sinking Spring after a reported on-set clash with a co-star. Sources told the outlet producers tried to smooth things over, but the situation couldn’t be resolved and the role was recast.
Wagner Moura replaced Michael Mando as Manny Carvalho after an on-set clash, per THR.
Based on Dennis Tafoya’s novel Dope Thief, the series comes from Peter Craig (co-writer of Top Gun: Maverick ), with Ridley Scott executive producing and directing the first episode. The story follows two lifelong friends from Philadelphia who impersonate DEA agents to rob drug dealers — a grift that spirals when they unknowingly hit a major operation already under real DEA surveillance.
Mando had been cast as Manny Carvalho, described as a good and loyal friend to Ray Driscoll. Brian Tyree Henry plays Ray, anchoring the show’s central duo.
After Mando’s departure, Wagner Moura — best known to many viewers for portraying Pablo Escobar in Narcos — stepped into the Manny role.
