Lauren Conrad Reveals Laguna Beach Costars Ran a Group Chat Without Her

Laguna Beach is back in our lives, and yes, even the group chat drama made the cut. Lauren Conrad showed up at the premiere for Roku's The Reunion: Laguna Beach and casually revealed she wasn't on all the cast text chains leading into it. Classic.

The group chat thing

Conrad, 40 and an executive producer on the reunion, said some of her former castmates spun up a separate, non-producer chat and forgot to include... the producer. She was told it started as a brunch-planning thread, and she did eventually get added on Thursday, March 26, at the premiere.

"They said they’d add me today. I was like, 'Thanks, guys. Too little too late.'"

Is it petty? A little. Is it funny? Also yes.

Getting everyone to say yes (it took work)

The reunion pulls the core Laguna crew back together more than two decades after MTV first dropped cameras into their SoCal high school lives. But not everyone jumped at the chance. Conrad said there were some real hesitations, and she personally got on the phone with Christina Schuller, Morgan Olsen, and Lo Bosworth before signing on. The vibe was: we live pretty quiet lives now—do we really want to do this again? They hashed it out, asked the hard questions, and eventually agreed.

Once filming wrapped, Conrad said the feedback was surprisingly warm. After their shoot days, people were sending around individual emails and texts saying it was great and that they were glad they did it. So, nerves going in, good feelings coming out.

Yes, they address the Lauren/Kristin of it all. Kristin Cavallari, 39, and Conrad famously spent seasons in a triangle with Stephen Colletti. These days, no drama. Conrad said it was genuinely nice to see Cavallari again—she lives in Tennessee, so they never randomly cross paths—and the reunion finally gave them an actual reason to hang out.
