Is a Summer House Shake-Up Coming? Bravo Exec Teases What’s Next After Amanda and West Drama
Bravo chief Frances Berwick is betting Summer House will be back despite the Amanda Batula–West Wilson scandal — but she’s not spilling who might return.
Bravo is not exactly shy about squeezing more TV out of a hit, and it sounds like Summer House is sticking around despite the Amanda Batula/West Wilson relationship drama. The exec in charge is already hinting as much, and there is a spinoff queued up to catch the fallout.
What Bravo is saying
Frances Berwick, who runs Bravo and Peacock 's unscripted division, told The Ankler in a piece published Wednesday, April 29, that she cannot share who might be back on Summer House yet. But if you are betting on whether the show returns after the recent scandal, she would "put money" on it. Translation: the odds of another season feel strong.
Berwick framed it as business as usual for Bravo: Real Housewives has been on the air for 20 years because the network keeps refreshing, renewing, and evolving its shows. She contrasted Bravo with other linear cable networks by saying they have not taken their foot off the gas; the shows keep delivering, and the company keeps adding and expanding. She also credited Bravo's franchise management chops, pointing to how they have built out Below Deck and Real Housewives and saying they are always looking for places to do the same, as long as they keep investing in the formats.
"Summer House has a good long runway ahead, and we're trying to figure out what that looks like right now."
If you are wondering whether this is Vanderpump Rules 2.0 after Scandoval, Berwick gets the comparison but says the shows are different beasts. (For context: in March 2023, news broke that VPR star Tom Sandoval was cheating on longtime girlfriend Ariana Madix with costar Rachel 'Raquel' Leviss.)
The mess fueling all this
- After weeks of rumors, Amanda Batula and West Wilson confirmed in a joint statement on March 31 that they are dating.
- That complicates things because Amanda was best friends with costar Ciara Miller, who dated West in 2023.
- Season 10 is still rolling out, so viewers are actively watching the lead-up to the relationship drama play out on-air.
- Bravo has a new spinoff, In the City, starring several members of the original Summer House cast, premiering next month.
- In the City was designed to follow a new life stage for parts of the cast, which is why Berwick says there is a natural separation between it and Summer House.
- Producers did pick up cameras to capture the aftermath of the Amanda/West reveal for In the City, including a newly shot scene with a couple of cast members in the first episode, but they chose not to do that on Summer House itself.
The bigger Bravo play
Berwick's whole point is that Bravo invests in what works and expands it when it makes sense. That is the formula that has kept Real Housewives on for two decades and spun Below Deck into a fleet. Summer House now looks like the next beneficiary: there is already an offshoot, and the flagship series sounds likely to continue. The only thing she is not saying yet is who is actually coming back.
When to watch
New episodes of Summer House air on Bravo Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET.
