Stephen Colletti is gearing up for baby No. 1 with wife Alex Weaver — and he’s turning to friend and new dad James Lafferty for advice as their show returns for season 2.

Big month for the One Tree Hill crew: one baby just arrived, another is on the way, and their meta comedy Everyone Is Doing Great finally has a Netflix home. If you like when real life and TV blur together, this is one of those times.

Dad life update

James Lafferty, 40, and his wife, actor Alexandra Park, quietly welcomed their first child and then announced it on April 17. The Instagram caption said: "Love has new meaning. River Jay Lafferty - 12/4/2025." Given the format, that date reads like April 12, 2025.

Sleep? Not so much. Joy? Off the charts. Lafferty called the timing surreal with a newborn and a show landing at Netflix at the same time, joking that shut-eye is not exactly happening, but the gratitude is real.

"It has been the greatest gift. It has been completely paradigm-shifting and mind-blowing and beautiful in every single way."

Colletti is up next (and yes, he is calling Lafferty a lot)

Stephen Colletti, also 40, and his wife, sportscaster Alex Weaver, are expecting their first child. They shared the pregnancy news in January, three months after getting married. The Laguna Beach alum says he has Lafferty on speed dial for the new-dad crash course: long calls about what to actually buy, what to skip, and all the practical stuff you do not know you need until you do.

Quick name check, because the universe is testing us: Stephen's wife is Alex Weaver. James's wife is Alexandra Park. Different people, same first name energy.

The show: friends, fiction, and the not-so-subtle parallels

Colletti and Lafferty created and wrote Everyone Is Doing Great, a comedy-drama about former teen TV co-stars trying to figure out adulthood and Hollywood years after their hit series ends. Yes, the echoes of their own One Tree Hill era are the point. The lines blur even more because Park plays Lafferty's wife on the show too, and Aussie actor Cariba Heine rounds out the central quartet of friends and significant others.

Netflix deal and premiere plan

Sony sold the series to Netflix, which means a much bigger audience is about to find it. Season 2 premieres on Netflix the same day Season 1 arrives, so you can start from the jump or jump right back in. Colletti called it one of those rare stretches where the personal wins and professional wins line up, and he is not wrong.
