Inside Candace Cameron Bure's 50th Birthday Surprise: The Star-Studded Bash Fans Didn't See Coming
Candace Cameron Bure turns 50 with a surprise-laced bash among family and friends — excited, a little weird about the milestone, and still in the dark on some of the party plans.
Candace Cameron Bure just hit the big 5-0, and she’s letting her family run point on the festivities… mostly. She told Us Weekly ahead of the day that turning 50 feels a little weird, but she’s into it. Same, honestly.
The plan she knows (and the part she doesn’t)
Her husband, former NHL player Valeri Bure, is staging a Monday surprise, and all three of their kids — Natasha (27), Lev (26), and Maks (24) — are in on it. What’s actually happening? She has no clue. She says she’s fine with surprises, even if her inner planner keeps trying to peek over everyone’s shoulder.
There is one confirmed stop: a family meal this week at Casalena, a Mediterranean-inspired spot, before the mystery portion kicks in.
Friends, but make it intimate
She also carved out a separate night: a small girls dinner in L.A. this coming weekend with some of her closest friends — including a few who are also hitting 50 this year. At one point she considered throwing a full-on blowout, then changed course as the birthday crept closer. The goal now is quality time with the people who’ve been around for 20 to 30-plus years. In her words, once you start building a big guest list, where does it end? She wants actual conversations, not a headcount.
How the week shapes up
- Monday, April 6: She turns 50; Valeri’s surprise with the whole family on deck.
- This week: Family dinner at Casalena.
- Weekend: Low-key girls dinner in L.A. with longtime friends.
Timing that worked out perfectly
Her birthday landed right after Easter Sunday this year, which matters a lot to her. She’s always been outspoken about her Christian faith, and the family was already together for the holiday — big Easter celebration, then it rolls straight into birthday mode. She put it this way:
"The resurrection is what sets God and Jesus apart... because he lives. He is risen and he is alive."
For her, celebrating that and another year of life back-to-back is pretty special.
Where she’s at career-wise
If you’ve somehow missed it: Bure grew up on TV as D.J. Tanner on Full House (1987–1995) after starting in the early ’80s. She’s since become a go-to face for Great American Family — and she isn’t just starring; she’s an executive producer on all her movie projects there. She’s also headlining The Ainsley McGregor Mysteries and hosts the 'Candace Cameron Bure' podcast. Translation: birthday or not, the schedule stays packed.
The vibe
Small, personal, and very her: family first, close friends next, a little mystery she’s trying not to solve, and a calendar that conveniently stacked Easter and a milestone birthday back-to-back.
