In the City Puts West and Amanda’s Romance Fallout Front and Center, Bravo Confirms
Bravo is rolling cameras on Summer House spinoff In the City just as Amanda Batula and West Wilson’s scandalous romance erupts — and the premiere, due in a couple of weeks, will include newly filmed scenes with cast members.
Bravo just did that reality TV two-step: they turned the cameras back on, but not where you might think. With everyone buzzing about Amanda Batula and West Wilson, the network quietly slid a fresh scene into the new Summer House spinoff, In the City, while leaving the main show alone. Yes, there’s a reason, and yes, the reunion is involved.
What Bravo actually filmed (and what they didn’t)
Bravo chairman Frances Berwick said this week that producers added a new scene to the very first episode of In the City to address the Amanda/West situation as it heated up. They specifically chose not to pick up cameras for Summer House proper, citing the cast’s emotional well-being and the timing of it all. Translation: they took a breath, then decided to handle the mess at the reunion instead. That reunion was taped last week, and yes, the fallout is part of it.
So, what is In the City?
It’s a Summer House spinoff that brings Amanda (34), her estranged husband Kyle Cooke (43), Lindsay Hubbard, and other familiar faces into their everyday New York City lives — no Hamptons weekend buffer, just weekday reality. Season 1 was shot in January, before Amanda and West (31) publicly defined whatever this is, though the show was already positioned to track the Amanda/Kyle split. The trailer even has Amanda calling West a 'cutie,' which, given where things went, doesn’t feel subtle.
Premiere details: In the City bows Tuesday, May 19 at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
The Amanda and West of it all
After months of playing it coy, Amanda and West shocked fans on March 31 by confirming they’re together. In a joint Instagram statement, they said the relationship is new, they weren’t trying to hide anything, and they wanted space to sort through the fallout of overlapping friendships and TV scrutiny before going public.
'Our connection grew out of a genuine, longstanding friendship. '
They also acknowledged other people were going to get pulled into it and insisted they were trying not to be careless. That landed with a thud across the cast and their exes — Kyle weighed in, and so did West’s ex Ciara Miller — which only poured more gas on Season 10’s fire.
The reunion and the leak
The Summer House Season 10 reunion taped on Thursday, April 23. A few hours later, audio from the taping leaked online. By Sunday, April 26, Bravo said it had tracked down the culprit: someone involved in the production of the reunion, not a cast member. The network warned platforms and fans to stop sharing the bootleg clips, and said they’re taking it seriously. Expect the Amanda/West chapter to be a major part of that sit-down.
