Riding The Doll’s popularity, Netflix just announced another Polish period drama—bring on the next obsession.

Leading the cast for Netflix ’s new Polish period epic Nights and Days are Tomasz Schuchardt and Jaśmina Polak, with the series targeting a global premiere on Netflix in 2027 . The project adapts Maria Dąbrowska’s landmark four-part novel into a multi-decade family saga, according to What’s on Netflix.

Behind the camera, Kamila Tarabura is directing and co-writing, working with writers Marta Bacewicz and Katarzyna Tybinka. Produced by Justyna Pawlak through Greenlight Films, the show marks the first major screen take on Dąbrowska’s classic in roughly 50 years, following much-loved film and TV versions from the 1970s.

What it ’s about

Set during a time when Poland had been erased from the map, the story centers on Barbara Ostrzeńska, a proud but penniless noblewoman whose first love marries someone else. To avoid life alone, she marries Bogumił Niechcic, a modest former insurgent turned estate manager whose steadiness and work ethic clash with her restless spirit.

Spanning three decades in the countryside, the series tracks the push-pull between Barbara’s yearning for lost status and whirlwind romance and the compromises of daily life. As she battles her circumstances—and challenges her family—Barbara gradually discovers a quieter, unexpected sense of fulfillment in the very life she once resisted.

Expected on Netflix in the second half of 2027.

Who’s making it

  • Cast — Tomasz Schuchardt; Jaśmina Polak
  • Director and co-writer — Kamila Tarabura
  • Writers — Marta Bacewicz; Katarzyna Tybinka
  • Producer — Justyna Pawlak (Greenlight Films)

Tarabura told What’s on Netflix the series will take an unvarnished, emotionally honest look at the myths around romantic love and the grind of long-term partnership—how dedication and effort can pay off over a lifetime.

The greenlight comes as Netflix leans further into Polish literary adaptations after the recent buzz around its take on Bolesław Prus’s The Doll. No episode count or exact date has been announced yet; Netflix lists a 2027 debut window.
