From Stage Legend to Dad of Six: Inside Frankie Valli’s Family and the Women Behind Them

Frankie Valli is 89, still touring, and also has one of those sprawling family stories that starts in the 1950s and comes right up to, well, last week. It has huge highs, brutal lows, a few marriages, and a recent legal mess that keeps popping back up. Here’s the clean version without the tabloid fog.

The marriages, the kids, the timeline

Valli married his first wife, Mary Mandel, in 1957. He stepped into dad mode with her daughter, Celia, then he and Mandel had two daughters together before divorcing in 1971. He married again in 1974, to Mary Ann Hannigan; they split in 1982. Two years later, he married Randy Clohessy; they had three sons and separated in 2004. In 2023, he married Jackie Jacobs, a former CBS marketing executive he first met back in 2007 and started dating in 2015.

• Celia Sabin Valli (born 1954) — Mandel’s daughter from a previous relationship, whom Valli helped raise. She died in February 1980 after falling from a fire escape. Oddly, that tragedy is not depicted in either the Jersey Boys stage musical or the movie.
• Antonia 'Toni' Valli — Valli and Mandel’s eldest. She married Four Seasons drummer Gerry Polci in 1987 (yes, workplace romance ), had two kids, Olivia and Dario, and later divorced. Their daughter Olivia is a Broadway actor who played Mary Mandel in a 2019 production of Jersey Boys.
• Francine Valli (born 1960) — Valli and Mandel’s younger daughter. She died in 1980 at age 20 from an accidental drug overdose, just months after Celia’s death.
• Francesco Valli Jr. (born 1988) — Valli’s first son with Clohessy. He has acting credits including Full House, The House Bunny, and Reach Me.
• Emilio Valli (born 1995) — One of Valli and Clohessy’s twins. After a stint working behind the scenes in Hollywood, he became a Malibu realtor.
• Brando Valli (born 1995) — Emilio’s twin. He followed his dad into music and released singles Imagine (2017) and Numb With U (2018).

The tragedies he never got over

1980 was devastating: Celia died in February after a fall from a fire escape, and months later Francine died at 20 from an accidental overdose. Valli talked about it in 2018 and did not sugarcoat how time has not healed this one.

'To be very honest with you, sometimes I don't know. It was a very tough period for me. You would think that as time went by it would get easier,' he told The Telegraph. 'But it doesn't. You should never lose a child.'

The recent legal situation with son Francesco

This part has been messy and very public. In April 2024, Valli’s son Emilio filed for a temporary restraining order against his brother, Francesco, on behalf of himself and their father. In the filing, Emilio claimed Francesco had threatened both of them and alleged that Francesco, whom he described as addicted to opiates, broke into Valli’s home and took personal belongings. In May 2024, a judge granted the order, barring Francesco from contacting Valli or his siblings. At the time, a rep said Valli was saddened by the situation and asked for privacy while the family worked through it.

Two years later, in May 2026, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to People that officers responded to a call at Valli’s home about a reported restraining-order violation tied to a domestic dispute. TMZ reported Francesco was allegedly involved. Police said there was no evidence of a crime and did not take a report. Valli’s rep called it a private family matter and said it was resolved before officers arrived.

Where things stood in 2024: a small victory lap

Amid all the turbulence, Valli got his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in May 2024. He had his twins, Emilio and Brando, there with him, along with his wife, Jackie Jacobs. He summed it up simply onstage:

'This is really a highlight of my life, especially having my sons here and my wife sitting right there.'
