Former James Bond actor backs Callum Turner — is he the next 007?
A former 007 just backed Callum Turner’s James Bond case, kicking the who’s-next debate into a higher gear.
Asked who he’s eyeing to inherit the tux, Pierce Brosnan didn’t hesitate to single out Callum Turner. In a new Vanity Fair conversation, the former 007 said he’s been impressed by several of the names in circulation but gave Turner a special nod — the two appeared together in The Only Living Boy in New York in 2017.
“Callum Turner is someone I’ve worked with, and he’s so strong. They all have a voice and a physique, and a presence on film. They all have longevity as actors, all of these young men,” he said.
Turner’s name has been swirling alongside a handful of younger breakout stars as producers continue the search for the first Bond of the post–Daniel Craig era. No casting has been announced.

Who’s behind the next Bond
Brosnan also talked directors and lit up at the mention of Denis Villeneuve , praising the Dune filmmaker’s style and saying he’d be thrilled to see his take on 007.
“(Villeneuve) is such an iconoclastic director. His work is visionary, and his stealth and imagination of camera work and storytelling is so visceral and sensuous,” he said.
On the writing side, Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders) is attached to script the next Bond movie. In a recent chat with Zoe Ball on the U.K.’s Greatest Hits Radio, Knight said he’s already turned in the screenplay. Casting — including who will play James Bond — has not been revealed and no production start has been announced.
