Emma Stone’s new sci-fi comedy Bugonia is now available to buy or rent on digital platforms just weeks after its theatrical debut. Find out why the film made the jump so quickly, how it’s performing at the box office, and when you can expect it to stream on Peacock.

Emma Stone’s latest foray into science fiction comedy, Bugonia, has landed on digital services less than a month after its October 31, 2025, theatrical premiere. Audiences can now purchase or rent the film on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Fandango At Home, and other major platforms starting November 25 at midnight Eastern Time, or November 24 at 9 p.m. Pacific.

Star Power and Creative Team

Bugonia marks the fourth time director Yorgos Lanthimos and Oscar-winner Emma Stone have teamed up, following their previous successes with The Favourite, Poor Things, and Kinds of Kindness. In this offbeat comedy, Stone takes on the role of Michelle, a high-powered pharmaceutical executive who finds herself abducted by two men convinced she’s not of this world.

The cast also features Jesse Plemons, Stavros Halkias, and Aidan Delbis. The film currently holds an 87% score on Rotten Tomatoes and runs for two hours.

Box Office Struggles and Early Digital Release

Despite the buzz, Bugonia has faced challenges at the box office. After nearly a month in theaters, it has earned just $32 million globally, falling short of its reported $55 million production budget. With ticket sales slowing and the number of screens shrinking each week, the studio appears to be banking on an early digital release to reach a wider audience and boost revenue.

Lanthimos’ films have always been unpredictable at the box office. While his earlier indie projects saw modest returns, The Favourite broke out with $95 million worldwide, and Poor Things followed with $111 million. However, not every collaboration has been a hit—Kinds of Kindness brought in only $16 million. Bugonia started strong with a $5 million opening weekend, the best of Lanthimos’ career, but quickly lost momentum in the following weeks.

Streaming Prospects and Peacock Release Window

Currently, Bugonia is only available for digital purchase or rental and hasn’t launched on any subscription streaming services. Fans are already asking when it will be available to stream on Peacock. Looking at recent Universal and Focus Features releases, most titles hit Peacock about six to eight weeks after their theatrical debut. For example, Honey Don’t! premiered in theaters on August 22 and started streaming on October 3, while Black Bag and Last Breath followed similar timelines.

If Bugonia follows this pattern, it could arrive on Peacock in late December 2025 or early January 2026. This would coincide with the film’s DVD release, scheduled for December 23, which typically happens just before or alongside the streaming launch.

Bugonia is currently playing in theaters worldwide and is available on digital platforms.
