Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Finale Officially Shatters an All-Time MCU Record
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 erupts into a citywide war as Matt Murdock/Daredevil (Charlie Cox) and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) drag all of New York into their feud—leaving both men to reckon with devastating sacrifices and a city forever changed.
Quick one: Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 didn’t just stick the landing — it planted the flag. The finale pulled the entire city into Matt vs. Fisk, hit hard on consequences, and now it’s breaking records to prove fans felt it.
Where Season 2 leaves Matt and Fisk
Season 2 ends with NYC swallowed up by the war between Matt Murdock/Daredevil (Charlie Cox) and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin (Vincent D'Onofrio). The cost is brutal on both sides. Matt’s vigilante life gets dragged into the light, and he winds up in a jail cell. Fisk, meanwhile, is forced out of New York entirely — exiled and staring down a very different future. It’s a real finale-finale, and Episode 8, 'The Southern Cross', doesn’t flinch on the fallout.
The record it just broke
As of right now, that finale is the highest-rated single episode of any MCU Disney+ series on IMDb. Here’s how the top of the leaderboard shakes out:
- Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, Episode 8 — 'The Southern Cross': 9.6/10
- Loki Season 2 Finale — 'Glorious Purpose' (aired November 9, 2023): 9.5/10
- Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, Episode 4 — 'Gloves Off': 9.4/10
Ratings up, viewership … not so much (for now)
There’s a wrinkle: a recent report said Season 2’s viewership dipped compared to Season 1. So yeah, these sky-high IMDb scores are a much-needed win for Marvel Studios and Disney+, and a pretty clear sign the show leveled up in Season 2 even if some folks hesitated to press play. The real test is what happens now that the whole season is on Disney+ and bingeable — word of mouth tends to do its thing once people can plow straight through.
Season 3 is already moving — and it’s loading the bench
Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 has been in production since Season 2 started streaming on March 24. The next chapter picks up with Matt in prison and Fisk out in the wilderness searching for a new purpose after losing both the mayor’s office and his grip as the Kingpin of Crime.
While Daredevil’s off the board, his street-level allies step in. Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones already returned in Season 2, Mike Colter dropped a finale cameo as Luke Cage, and Finn Jones will suit back up as Danny Rand/Iron Fist in Season 3. The target for Season 3’s premiere is March 2027.
In the meantime, all episodes of Daredevil: Born Again are streaming now on Disney+.
