Dafne Keen cracks up Nick Frost with 'Is the Next Shot a Colonoscopy?'
Dafne Keen recalls one cheeky line she dropped that had Nick Frost losing it — and the actual quip’s the kicker.
On the set of the horror movie Whistle, a long day of shooting a high school detention scene turned into a personal mission for Dafne Keen. As director Corin Hardy kept changing angles and trying new ideas, Keen started tallying every setup right on the desk in front of her. By the time she hit 73 in a single day, co-star Nick Frost was fighting a cold and looking beat — so Keen leaned over with a deadpan whisper that finally broke him.
“I wonder if the next shot will be a colonoscopy,”
Keen shared the story on Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum, saying she’d gone into the movie with one very specific goal.
“I must make Nick Frost laugh like this is my mission because he is my childhood icon.”
That crack landed because Frost isn’t an easy laugh on set, Keen noted — and because she grew up watching him. His comedy bona fides run deep: Simon Pegg has called Frost the funniest person he knows, and their run together across TV and films is a big reason why.
- Spaced — Channel 4 cult sitcom with Pegg
- Shaun of the Dead — Edgar Wright’s zombie comedy
- Hot Fuzz — action send-up set in a sleepy village
- The World’s End — pub-crawl sci-fi comedy
About Whistle
