Clear your calendar: Netflix’s second week of August 2026 brings 10 must-watch releases

The week-long run starts Saturday, August 10 with the drama Midwinter Break and keeps rolling daily through Friday, August 15, when a trio of big-name thrillers — The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Shallows and family crowd-pleaser Firehouse Dog — hit Netflix. In between are true-crime deep dives, an Icelandic eco-adventure, and a brand-new film spun out of the Brazilian hit Sintonia.

All 10 titles arrive on Netflix between August 10–15.

• Midwinter Break — August 10
  Lesley Manville and Ciarán Hinds play Stella and Gerry, a retired Northern Irish couple whose quiet Amsterdam getaway turns into a reckoning over faith, aging and long-buried hurts. Based on Bernard MacLaverty’s novel and directed by Polly Findlay, the film tracks her pull toward spirituality and his secret reliance on alcohol as decades of silence catch up to them.
• Mourinho (Season 1) — August 11
  A sports docuseries built around José Mourinho — “The Special One” — charts his rise across Europe with FC Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real Madrid. With candid interviews from Mourinho, players and rivals, it digs into locker-room politics, media mind games and the personal toll of chasing trophies at the very top.
• Woman at War — August 11
  An Icelandic dark comedy about Halla, a choir director living a double life as “The Mountain Woman,” sabotaging an aluminum industry she blames for scarring the highlands. Armed with a bow and arrow and a knack for shorting power grids, her mission collides with a surprise turn: a long-stalled adoption suddenly comes through, forcing a choice between activism and motherhood.
• Conversations with a Killer: The Charles Manson Tapes — August 12
  This limited docuseries revisits the 1969 Tate–LaBianca murders through thousands of hours of rare recordings. Original audio interviews with Manson, his followers and the investigators anchor an examination of psychological manipulation and the late-’60s counterculture currents that let a cult metastasize.
• Nando Between Two Worlds — A Sintonia Film — August 12
  Years after clawing his way up Brazil’s criminal underworld, Nando has fled to Serbia to start over — until his teenage daughter disappears. The search drags him back home, where old allies have become rivals and the cartel he helped build won’t let him walk away, pushing him between cops, crews and a father’s instinct to protect.
• A Child of My Own — August 13
  A Mexican true-crime documentary about a young hospital worker crushed by family pressure to have a baby. After faking a pregnancy to keep up appearances, her lies spiral toward a shocking criminal plot; the film features prison interviews with the woman, plus perspectives from loved ones and legal experts.
• Immaculate — August 13
  Sydney Sweeney stars as Sister Cecilia, a devout American nun who joins a secluded convent in the Italian countryside — and inexplicably becomes pregnant. Hailed as a miracle by church leaders, her condition curdles into terror as visions mount and sinister rituals surface, building to a shocking third act.
• Firehouse Dog — August 15
  Rex XX, Hollywood ’s most pampered stunt hound, is lost after a botched aerial gag and rescued by Shane, a rebellious kid whose dad captains a struggling firehouse. What starts as chaos turns into teamwork as Rex’s stunt skills help on real emergencies — and the station finds an unlikely four-legged hero.
• The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo — August 15
  David Fincher’s icy thriller pairs disgraced journalist Mikael Blomkvist with hacker Lisbeth Salander to crack a 40-year-old disappearance from a wealthy family’s island. Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara headline, with a brooding score from Trent Reznor, as the case unfurls into serial murders, corporate rot and buried secrets.
• The Shallows — August 15
  Blake Lively plays Nancy, a med student surfing a remote Mexican beach who wanders into a Great White’s feeding ground. Wounded and stranded on a rock outcrop just 200 yards from shore with the tide rising, she leans on training, grit and ingenuity to outlast a relentless predator.
