Emily Blunt’s slate is stacked — major sequels, fresh collaborations, and a few left turns — setting up a next act that’s busier and bolder than you’d think.

Kate Macer is officially back. According to TheWrap on October 5, 2026 , Sicario 3 is moving forward with Emily Blunt rejoining Benicio del Toro and Josh Brolin after sitting out 2018’s Day of the Soldado. The new installment will be directed by Padraic McKinley, whose feature debut The Weight premiered at Sundance earlier this year, from a screenplay by Steven Knight. Plot details are under wraps, and cameras are slated to roll in early 2027 .

Knight boarded after earlier versions were developed by Christopher McQuarrie and Erik Jendresen, a reminder of how many iterations this third film has weathered on its way to the start line. For Blunt, the return reunites the franchise ’s core trio in the same morally gray borderland that launched the original’s slow-burn intensity.

Her other big reunion is already moving. A Quiet Place Part III began production in May 2026, with John Krasinski back to write and direct and the Abbott family saga continuing with returning cast members Cillian Murphy, Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe. Paramount has dated the film for July 30, 2027.

A Quiet Place Part III is scheduled for July 30, 2027.

Beyond the blockbusters

Blunt is also leaning into a quieter, literary register with Walk the Blue Fields, a romantic drama based on the work of Claire Keegan. She stars opposite Andrew Scott and produces via her Ledbury Productions, with John Crowley directing from a script by Conor McPherson. The story centers on a woman whose wedding day is upended when a relationship from her past threatens to resurface. Filmed in Ireland earlier this year, the Netflix movie is now in post-production with no release date announced.

Then there’s the prestige swing: an untitled Hawaii- set Martin Scorsese crime drama that pairs Blunt with Leonardo DiCaprio and Dwayne Johnson. Based on a real Hawaiian crime figure and set amid the islands’ organized-crime world of the 1960s and ’70s, the project first surfaced in February 2025 when Variety reported that Blunt and Johnson brought the idea to Scorsese and DiCaprio. 20th Century later picked it up, with Nick Bilton writing the screenplay.
