Backstage Spider Bite Sends Taylor Momsen to Hospital Mid-Tour With AC/DC
Taylor Momsen’s AC/DC tour took a venomous turn when a spider bite sent the 32-year-old Pretty Reckless frontwoman to a hospital in Mexico — a stark twist for the former Cindy Lou Who from How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
Touring with AC/DC keeps turning into a nature documentary for Taylor Momsen. First a bat, now a spider — and not the cute kind. The Pretty Reckless singer wound up in a Mexico City hospital after a venomous bite, and still tried to make the show must go on. Because of course she did.
The Mexico City spider situation
Momsen, 32 — yes, Cindy Lou Who from the 2000 Grinch and a former Gossip Girl regular — got nailed by a spider on her lower right leg before The Pretty Reckless opened for AC/DC on April 7, 2026, at Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City. She said the thing was huge and basically took a chunk out of her leg. The venom hit her hard enough that doctors had to step in with a shot to counter the toxins and knock down the swelling. And then she went onstage anyway.
She told fans about it the next day (April 8) on Instagram with her usual pitch-black humor, riffing on her growing track record with bitey tour guests:
"Add it to the list! Spider woman? Batgirl?
When do my superpowers kick in? That’s what I want to know."
It got worse a week later
At first it looked manageable. Then April 14 hit, and she posted from a hospital bed with a big rash creeping up her calf. Her caption boiled down to: hospital today, show tomorrow, poisonous spiders are no bueno, but the show must go on — and she promised to see Mexico City the next night.
Overnight, not great. On April 15, she shared another update, this time being wheeled down a hospital hallway in a bed, thanking the doctors for doing what needed doing. That April 15 date was supposed to be The Pretty Reckless' final Mexico City show at Estadio GNP Seguros.
Yes, this has happened to her before — with a bat
If you feel like you have deja vu, you do. Almost two years earlier, on May 29, 2024, during the same AC/DC Power Up tour, a bat landed on Momsen’s leg mid-song — during Witches Burn — at Estadio La Cartuja in Seville, Spain. She handled it live on the mic, asked for a little help, cracked a joke about maybe actually being a witch, and kept performing. Later she confirmed the bat did bite her, which meant two weeks of rabies shots. Hospital staff even nicknamed her Batgirl after seeing the local news hit. AC/DC, being AC/DC, reportedly threw her a bat-themed birthday party afterward, according to VICE.

Where the tour goes from here
The Pretty Reckless have been opening for AC/DC on the Power Up tour since it kicked off in 2024. After the April 15, 2026 date, the tour takes a breather, then fires back up in North America from July through September. As for Momsen, she’s clearly taking this latest detour in stride — even if the whole superpowers thing remains pending.
