Bachelorette Weekend: Hulu’s next whodunit makes Kylie Jenner the dead wife
A reality star you know is stepping into a major role in a new thriller series — guess who.
The project, working under the title Bachelorette Weekend, positions Kylie Jenner as a bride who turns up dead during her own pre-wedding getaway, leaving her closest friends under suspicion. According to Deadline, Jenner isn’t just starring — she’s also set to executive produce the Hulu- bound thriller as the deal is negotiated for a straight-to-series pickup, which would skip the traditional pilot stage.
The series is adapted from an unpublished book by author Flora Collins and is being scripted by author-screenwriter Lauren Oliver. The mystery setup leans into a whodunit framework centered on a tight-knit friend group, with Jenner reportedly playing the victim at the story’s center.
How it came together
Per Deadline, a speculative script first went to Kim Kardashian, who passed it to Jenner to consider. Through Kardashian’s first-look deal at 20th Television, the package was then pitched to Hulu, where negotiations for a series order are underway.
- Kylie Jenner — star and executive producer
- Lauren Oliver — writer; developing from Collins’ material via her StoryGiants banner
- Flora Collins — author of the underlying (unpublished) book
- Aaron Kaplan and Jaiden Kaplan — executive producers through Kapital Entertainment
- Hulu — in talks for a straight-to-series order
For Jenner, it marks a bigger step into acting after a quick on-screen cameo in Charli XCX’s A24 movie The Moment. She’s already a familiar presence to Hulu viewers via The Kardashians; this time the draw is a scripted part with a built-in true-crime vibe.
Jenner has spoken recently about navigating attention and privacy as she takes on new ventures, noting that growing up on camera forced her to create boundaries.
“Although it was different times then, there was no Instagram... I think that just protecting the things that I feel need protection or just like parts of my personality... it's just like my relationships and I just try to just protect myself and I have really thick skin, I think,”
she said on the Big Bro With Kid Cudi podcast.
Hulu has not announced a cast beyond Jenner, a filming start, or a premiere window. The series order is still being finalized.
