As The Lincoln Lawyer nears its Netflix end, season 5 gets a release window
It’s official: The Lincoln Lawyer is gearing up for a new season—and it’s steering Mickey Haller toward his final case.
The first concrete timing for the show’s farewell didn’t come from the streamer — it came from the man who created Mickey Haller. Author Michael Connelly replied to a fan on Threads with the year the final run will arrive, offering the clearest update since Netflix announced the endgame back in May.
“Season 5 coming in 2027. ”
Connelly didn’t share a month or day, but his note puts a public stake in the ground for The Lincoln Lawyer’s last lap. Connelly’s books have guided the series from the start — early seasons pulled from The Brass Verdict — and the finale season will lean on his more recent work.
What the finale set up
Season 4 closed with Mickey beating a murder charge that had him staring down prison time. It also dropped a family bombshell: a half-sister he never knew, Emi Finch (played by Cobie Smulders), who asks him to fight for a woman serving a six-year sentence. The ask pulls him into a habeas petition — and into a case that bleeds into his personal life.
The new season is inspired by Connelly’s seventh Mickey Haller novel, Resurrection Walk, which zeroes in on freeing the wrongfully convicted.

A planned goodbye
Co-showrunners Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez have called wrapping the drama after Season 5 “bittersweet,” but said it gives them room to craft a real ending for Mickey and company.
“It's also an amazing opportunity to bring this adventure to a close and perhaps chart a new course for some of our characters into the future, ” they said in a joint statement.
At the time of the May announcement, reports suggested rising costs may have factored into the decision to end the series; Netflix hasn’t confirmed a financial reason.
Season 5 of The Lincoln Lawyer is slated to arrive in 2027 on Netflix, with exact premiere details still to come.
