Anime NYC: Netflix rolls out new lineup as it doubles down on anime
Netflix just leveled up its anime push with a fresh slate — here’s what’s coming.
Netflix used its Anime NYC showcase to put firm dates on several buzzy titles and roll out fresh footage, mixing returning hits with new adaptations and originals. The biggest near-term moves: a new season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners arriving in October and the dystopian manga adaptation Fool Night landing in November, both on Netflix in the U.S.

The most eye-catching world premiere footage belonged to Bass X Machina, pitched as a steampunk sci‑fi western. Netflix brought “awe‑inspiring” stills and a short trailer to the stage, setting the tone for its November 2026 debut.
On the franchise front, Netflix previewed two very different spins on Eiichiro Oda’s universe: a blocky, playful LEGO One Piece special and a more straight-ahead animated remake titled The One Piece. Both projects showed early footage in New York; timing will be announced later.
Netflix’s anime push
The streamer has been leaning hard into anime, and audience data backs the bet. In April 2026, research firm GEM Partners ranked Netflix the No. 1 destination for anime across 15 countries, based on a 15,000-person survey, and Netflix says anime viewing on the service has tripled in recent years. Nearly half of subscribers sample anime, with dubbed versions reportedly edging out subs in popularity.
Rollout-wise, Netflix’s calendar starts with Cyberpunk: Edgerunners in October, continues with Fool Night and Bass X Machina in November, and picks back up with Blue Samurai Season 2 in January 2027.
