An iconic Clint Eastwood character inspired Sebastian Stan’s Avengers: Doomsday performance
Avengers: Doomsday remains under lock and key at Marvel, yet Sebastian Stan has revealed the Clint Eastwood character he identifies with.
Asked how he fits into the ever-expanding lineup of Avengers: Doomsday, Sebastian Stan said he sized up the room and leaned into a Clint Eastwood vibe — specifically Eastwood’s grizzled William Munny from Unforgiven — to shape Bucky Barnes’ dry, world-weary humor this time around. He shared the comparison on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast.
"I think I am like Clint Eastwood in this group,"
Stan added that seeing himself as the “older, bitter guy” helped him find the character’s comic edge amid the new team dynamic. It tracks: Bucky was born in 1917, which technically makes him the senior Avenger in most rooms, no matter how much cryo-sleep he logged.
Marvel ’s lockdown on plot details remains ironclad — cast members have joked about how secretive this one is — but the crossover chatter is loud. The villain is widely rumored to be Doctor Doom, with some speculation linking Robert Downey Jr. to the role; Marvel hasn’t confirmed any of that.
