Alien Earth: Plot, Release Date & Everything We Know About the FX Series

This year, FX will premiere Alien: Earth, the first series based on Ridley Scott's legendary sci-fi universe, set two years before the original film. We have gathered all the facts about Noah Hawley's new project.

Alien: Earth Release Date

The exact date of the online release has not yet been determined, but all sources point to mid-2025, presumably summer. This information was also confirmed in the teaser trailer.

Alien: Earth creator Noah Hawley said that production, which took place in Bangkok, was completed on July 17, 2024. According to him, the post-production of the show could take about six months or more.

Alien: Earth Plot & Chronology

Chronologically, Alien: Earth is a prequel to the original 1979 Ridley Scott horror film. The series takes place in the year 2120, two years before the events of the first Alien.

According to the plot, a mysterious spaceship carrying a hybrid girl named Wendy and a group of military personnel will crash on Earth. It is known that the central location of the series will be our planet, which in itself is unusual for the Alien universe.

Most horror movies about xenomorphs have taken place in other star systems and usually in closed places – space stations, prisons or abandoned laboratories.

Hawley decided to change the usual course of events in order to raise the stakes of the series and, of course, to win the support of the fan community, which has repeatedly complained that the franchise is not evolving.

Alien: Earth Will Focus on Synthetic Androids

It is known that the main focus of Alien: Earth will be the relationship between humans and synthetic androids. The main character of the series is Wendy – a girl with the body of an adult and the mind of a child, who is trying to integrate into society and learn to control herself. Her mentor will be a synthetic scientist named Kirsh.

Alien: Earth will not have any crossovers with Fede Alvarez's Alien: Romulus, but with a second and third season planned for the show, future plot connections to other movies should not be ruled out.

Alien: Earth Cast

Most of the cast has already been announced, and there is bad news for fans of the movie Alien – Sigourney Weaver is not on the list (but anything is possible).
