Alice Halsey reveals how Taylor Swift turned Netflix’s Little House on the Prairie cast into a family

Netflix just rolled out its new Little House on the Prairie, and the sweetest surprise isn’t on screen. According to young lead Alice Halsey, the cast basically turned into a family because of… Taylor Swift. Yes, Pa Ingalls got Swift-pilled.

Halsey — a former Days of Our Lives actor who plays Laura — told People that the newest version of the Ingalls clan bonded fast thanks to a shared obsession with Taylor’s music. She and Skywalker Hughes (Mary) clicked right away over their Swift fandom, and Crosby Fitzgerald (Ma) was right there with them. Then they set their sights on Luke Bracey (Pa), who did not start out a Swift guy. That did not last long.

'Listen, I am a Swiftie beyond your imagination. I absolutely love her. I love all of her songs. I think that that was definitely a big bonding thing for us Ingalls,' Halsey said.

Halsey says the cast would regularly break into Anti-Hero between setups — basically a recurring bit until Bracey caved. Fitzgerald added that Bracey has gradually gotten into Taylor’s catalog and they’ve even been nudging him to watch Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour. As for favorites: Fitzgerald shouted out Evermore, and Halsey put Reputation near the top of her list.

It wasn’t just Taylor on the playlist. Between scenes, the Ingalls crew hung out constantly — singing, joking around, and playing games — which made the on-camera family chemistry happen without anyone forcing it. Bracey joked that working with his younger co-stars was mostly laughing, with the acting squeezed in between.

Season 1 of Little House on the Prairie is already streaming on Netflix. The reboot aims to honor Laura Ingalls Wilder’s classic while building a new audience — and, apparently, it did some character work off set too. Taylor never visited the prairie, but her songs became the informal soundtrack to a cast that actually feels like a family.
