Alice Feeney’s Twist scores adaptation following the Netflix success of His & Hers
If you powered through His & Hers, Netflix’s biggest show of early 2026, Alice Feeney’s next thriller is already headed for TV.
William Oldroyd is back to write and direct an adaptation of Alice Feeney’s next novel Twist, with Fifth Season again serving as the studio, according to Deadline. The reunion brings together the core creative lineup behind Netflix ’s breakout His & Hers, though there’s no cast or U.S. distributor announced yet.
- Campout Productions (Kristen Campo)
- Freckle Films (Jessica Chastain, Kelly Carmichael)
- Viva Maude (Bill Dubuque, Tessa Thompson)
Feeney’s new story centers on Ariella, a flight attendant secretly living two married lives: in a quiet village as Noah’s wife and mother, and in London as Luka’s glamorous new bride. A murder blows up that double existence, with a two-perspective structure steering the mystery through marriage, secrecy, and revenge. Macmillan lists the U.S. publication date as February 23, 2027 .
The team’s quick turn to Twist follows the streak set by His & Hers, the Southern Gothic thriller that sent Tessa Thompson’s former news anchor Anna Andrews back to her Georgia hometown and put her on a collision course with Jon Bernthal ’s estranged husband, Detective Jack Harper.
His & Hers was Netflix’s most-watched show of the first half of 2026 with 104 million global views (January–June).
Fifth Season executive Noah Greenshner has cited that success as proof of what this group can do together, and Feeney has called the reunion a dream come true, per the report.
Bernthal’s next move
Meanwhile, Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle is back in the MCU via Daredevil: Born Again, the Disney+ special The Punisher: One Last Kill (released May 12, 2026 and co-written by Bernthal with director Reinaldo Marcus Green), and Spider- Man: Brand New Day .
A new solo Punisher project remains unconfirmed, but industry insider Daniel Richtman has reported that Marvel is weighing either a television series or a theatrical film for Castle’s next chapter; ComicBook.com has echoed that report while stressing there’s no official word from Marvel Studios. The timing would track with Marvel’s street-level slate shifting as Daredevil: Born Again is slated to wrap with its third season in 2027.
