Al Pacino becomes a dad at 84; Jamie Foxx fires off a 'Drop-Off Line' quip

Jamie Foxx says the moment started with concern and ended in a punchline. Catching up with Al Pacino after Foxx’s 2023 health scare, the two traded pleasantries about recovery before the talk turned to kids. Foxx told The Hollywood Reporter he couldn’t help ribbing the screen legend about becoming a dad again late in life, quipping, “Man, you’re gonna be 84 years old back in the drop-off line.”

“Every time I get out, they pull me back in.”

That’s how Foxx, sliding into his Pacino impression, says the Oscar winner answered him — borrowing Michael Corleone’s famous line from The Godfather Part III. For context, Pacino welcomed his fourth child, Roman, with Noor Alfallah in June 2023, when he was 83. Foxx said the deadpan comeback left him both howling and oddly encouraged about what fatherhood can look like at any age.

Foxx is folding that perspective into his first stand-up special in years, Jamie Foxx: Take Care of Yourself, which he discussed with THR while recalling the Pacino exchange. Directed by Troy Miller and shot in Oakland — where Foxx first cut his teeth in comedy — the set leans into survival, aging and reinvention after last year’s medical emergency, with room for the celebrity impressions fans expect. His daughter Anelise also pops up to show off her musical chops.

Foxx added that he trimmed and reworked parts of the special in the wake of backlash to Netflix ’s Kevin Hart roast, telling THR he feels audiences are more sensitive to certain bits now. One segment he said he reconsidered involved Halle Berry and jokes about aging Hollywood icons.
