$600M request: Paris Jackson petitions late father Michael Jackson’s estate
Paris Jackson is demanding a massive payout from Michael Jackson’s estate — and the figure she’s after is jaw-dropping.
In a new filing in Los Angeles probate court, Paris Jackson is asking a judge to order a partial distribution of $600 million to the Michael Jackson Family Trust, arguing the trust that’s supposed to benefit Michael Jackson’s children still hasn’t been funded even though the estate has earned billions since his death, according to documents cited by Page Six.
The filing says Michael Jackson’s will provides that his children receive income from their portions of the trust once they turn 21; Paris claims she and her brothers have not received that income. The documents also point to longtime estate co-executor John Branca as controlling how much money flows into the trust, noting he left The Michael Jackson Company in 2006 and returned in 2009, nine days before Jackson died.
A spokesperson for the Michael Jackson Estate told Page Six the estate cannot fully fund the trust until outstanding legal issues are resolved, including an ongoing IRS dispute that sought $700 million in taxes and penalties. The spokesperson also dismissed the suggestion that payments to beneficiaries have been reduced.
A hearing on the matter is set for December in Los Angeles.
The court fight lands the same year the family has been back in the spotlight on the big screen. Michael, the biopic starring Jaafar Jackson as his uncle, opened in April and was a box-office hit.
Sequel moves forward
California’s latest film- incentive round awarded the planned sequel, Michael 2, a $30.8 million tax credit — the second-largest allocation in a batch covering 35 projects, behind only a Pixar animated feature at $40.1 million.
Production on the sequel is slated to begin in late 2026 or early 2027 , and studio executive Adam Fogelson said around 25% to 30% of the movie has already been filmed. The release is currently eyed for late 2027 or the first half of 2028.
