On a 2024 episode of Shannen Doherty’s Let’s Be Clear podcast, Katherine Heigl finally unpacked the long-circulating story that she “rejected” an Emmy. The Suits alum said there was no nomination to turn down in 2008 — she chose not to submit her name for consideration because she didn’t feel the year’s work measured up.

Backstory
Heigl had just won Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2007 for playing Izzie Stevens on Grey’s Anatomy. The following year, she issued a statement explaining she would not enter the race, saying the season hadn’t given her material worthy of Emmy consideration and framing the decision as leaving room for someone more deserving.
Fallout and reset
