10-Year Romance Over: Olympian Stephen Nedoroscik and Tess McCracken Split

Olympic gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik and his long-time girlfriend Tess McCracken have split after almost a decade together. She broke the news herself on TikTok over the weekend, keeping it simple and pretty candid.

In a Saturday, April 4 TikTok, McCracken, 28, told followers she and Nedoroscik, 27, quietly ended things at the start of January. She said she held off on posting anything official for a few months, even though fans had already clocked the signs: her feeds were scrubbed, the comments kept coming, and there were plenty of Reddit threads connecting the dots. At a certain point, as she put it, it was just easier to say it out loud than keep dodging it.

No scandal here, just grown-up reality

McCracken made a point to shut down all the usual breakup theories. No drama, no blow-up fight, no cheating, no one realized they were gay, and no, she did not give him some engagement ultimatum. Her take was more boring and way more relatable: time, age, and shifting priorities. They got together as teenagers and are now in their late 20s. The stuff that did not matter at 18 can matter a lot more a decade later.

There was also a straightforward logistical moment baked in. Their apartment lease was up in mid-January, so that timing basically forced the decision. McCracken kept their cat because she was already doing most of the care and Nedoroscik is allergic. As she put it, it just worked out that way.

They started dating in 2016 when they were both freshmen at Penn State, where McCracken also competed as a collegiate gymnast. Over the years she was a very visible supporter of Nedoroscik, including during the 2024 Olympics and his run on Dancing With the Stars season 33.
