Chris Pratt Shares Star-Lord’s Life on Earth Before MCU’s Next Big Event
Chris Pratt opens up about Star-Lord’s current life away from the Guardians, revealing how Peter Quill is reconnecting with family and music on Earth, while hinting at hopes for a future MCU return.
Chris Pratt, best known for his role as Star-Lord in the Guardians of the Galaxy series, has finally shed light on what Peter Quill has been up to since stepping away from his cosmic adventures. After the events of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Quill made the choice to leave his team behind and return to his roots, focusing on family and a quieter life back on Earth. This new chapter for the character lines up with Pratt’s own vision for where Quill stands now—and possibly where he’s headed next.
While promoting his latest sci-fi thriller, Mercy, Pratt reflected on his most iconic roles, including Owen Grady from Jurassic World and Mario from The Super Mario Bros. Movie. When the conversation turned to Star-Lord, Pratt admitted there are no immediate plans for him to reprise the role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Still, he expressed a strong desire to honor the promise that Quill would one day return. Asked about what Quill might be doing these days, Pratt offered a candid take:
“Probably denying the fact that he was responsible for the death of Iron Man, while simultaneously trying to convince people that he was a superhero at some point. Probably catching up on the music. From '70s pop all the way until he came back, there's a lot of music to catch up on.
We made a promise with Guardians of the Galaxy that Star-Lord would return – I think I'd really like to make good on that promise. That would be awesome.”
Star-Lord’s Future and Pratt’s Dream Roles
Although there’s no official word on when—or if —Pratt will suit up as Star-Lord again, speculation is swirling about his potential involvement in upcoming Marvel projects. When asked if he’d like to play any other superhero, Pratt didn’t hesitate to name his childhood favorite: Punisher. He explained, “Punisher. He was my favorite comic book hero growing up, so I've always loved Punisher…He was so good. Maybe Punisher 2099.”
While Jon Bernthal currently portrays the Punisher, Pratt pointed out that his role as James Reece in the Prime Video series The Terminal List lets him channel a similar energy. “I get to kind of play a version of Punisher with James Reece in The Terminal List,” he said, hinting at his appreciation for gritty, action- packed characters.
Will Star-Lord Return for Avengers: Doomsday?
As for the highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday, set to hit theaters in December 2026, there’s no confirmation that Quill will make an appearance. The film is expected to bring together Marvel’s biggest ensemble yet, with familiar faces like Thor and Ant-Man returning. However, the original Guardians of the Galaxy lineup isn’t currently slated to join the cast, and rumors suggest the Fantastic Four may take their place.
Despite this, there’s always a possibility for surprise cameos. Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be a massive reunion, and fans are eager to see which beloved characters might pop up, even if only briefly. With the Multiverse Saga drawing to a close, it wouldn’t be a shock to see both old and new heroes sharing the screen one last time.
