With Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season One split into two discounted Blu-ray/DVD sets, collectors have a rare chance to secure these physical editions before they vanish from shelves.

With the arrival of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End’s second season on Crunchyroll, I’m itching to revisit the magical journey of my favorite silver-haired mage before diving into the new episodes. Sure, streaming is just a click away on my PS5, but as someone who’s been building a physical anime library since the early 2000s, nothing beats the satisfaction of owning the discs themselves.

Like many recent anime releases, the first season of Frieren is split into two separate sets. Part 1, which covers episodes 1 through 16, is currently available as a Blu-ray and DVD combo for $55.98 on Crunchyroll—now $14 off the usual price. Collectors will appreciate the included art cards, featuring beautiful illustrations of Frieren, Fern, Stark, and Sein. To complete the season, Part 2 (episodes 17–28) is also available for $55.98, and comes with its own set of art cards and striking cover art of the original Hero Party, including Himmel. Both sets are compatible with PS5 and are also available in the UK for £29.99 each.

Physical Editions: A Collector’s Dream

For those who love displaying their collections, these sets are a real treat. The discs themselves feature unique artwork of Frieren, Fern, and Stark, making them a standout addition to any shelf. While some might find it inconvenient that the full season isn’t bundled together, longtime fans will remember the days when a single VHS tape held just a handful of episodes. Splitting a season into two boxes is pretty standard for modern anime, especially since Frieren’s first season aired in two parts on Crunchyroll.

Right now, both parts are discounted on the Crunchyroll store, so collectors in the US can save an extra $14 per set. The second set even includes an art card of the legendary Dragon King slaying party. If you can look at Himmel’s card without getting emotional, you’re stronger than I am.

Don’t Wait—Physical Copies Are Selling Fast

With the US editions currently on backorder, it’s clear that many fans are jumping at the chance to own these sets. It’s not uncommon for renewed interest in a series to cause physical editions to sell out quickly, only to reappear online at inflated prices. To avoid paying a premium to resellers, I’m making sure to grab these Crunchyroll releases while I still can—and I’d recommend any collector do the same.

Streaming is convenient, but digital libraries aren’t permanent. Shows can disappear from apps without warning, but with a physical set, you’re free to watch whenever you want, subscription or not. Even though Frieren’s second season is topping the charts, there’s no guarantee it’ll always be available to stream. Better to be safe than sorry.

More Than Just Discs: Exclusive Merch and Limited Editions

If you’re as hooked on Frieren as I am, Crunchyroll’s merch selection is worth a look. Official figures from SEGA and Good Smile Company are up for grabs, including a Himmel figma with a real fabric cape that’s hard to resist. For the ultimate collector, the Frieren Part 2 Limited Edition is also marked down to $175.98 on Crunchyroll.

Anime fans looking for their next binge-worthy series should consider picking up physical copies to enjoy on their PS5. With discounts and exclusive extras, now’s the perfect time to expand your collection.
