Lisa Ann Walter Turned Down RHOBH Five Times Because She’s No Housewife
Lisa Ann Walter says she turned down The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills five times, quipping she’s no housewife, no wife—and doesn’t even have a house.
I love when a celebrity calmly torpedoes a reality TV rumor. This time it is Lisa Ann Walter politely slamming the door on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills — after being asked more than once — and Christina Applegate reminding everyone she already passed a decade ago.
Lisa Ann Walter says RHOBH is not her lane
During a chat with Betches on Tuesday, May 12, the Abbott Elementary favorite, 62, said producers have tried to recruit her for RHOBH five separate times. She turned them down every time for the most straightforward reasons: she is not a wife, she does not have a house, and she does not live in Beverly Hills. The team even assured her that cast members do not have to brawl on camera to make good TV. Still a no.
'The only thing I've got is real.'
Walter made it clear she is not judging the genre from a pedestal — she watches 90 Day Fiance — she just has zero interest in stepping into the Bravo world herself.
- Fans, of course, immediately fantasy- cast her anyway: some said she would slot right in alongside Jennifer Tilly, others pointed out the meta joke that her Abbott Elementary character already watches Housewives, and plenty argued they would watch her do anything, technicalities like husband/house/Beverly Hills address be damned.
Christina Applegate also noped out — years ago
Walter is not alone. In April 2024, Christina Applegate, 54, said on Jamie-Lynn Sigler's 'MeSsy' podcast that Beverly Hills approached her roughly 10 years back. She later became close friends with the show's executive producer because their kids went to the same school, and he confirmed they had indeed asked her to join. When she pressed him — now that he knows her — on whether she would have been any fun on the show, he basically told her it would have been painfully boring. Applegate agreed: she would not have shown up to the group dinners, she would have stayed home in sweatpants, and, by her own admission, she would have made a terrible Housewife.
So if you were hoping for an Abbott-to-Beverly Hills pipeline, do not hold your breath. Fans may be ready, but neither Walter nor Applegate is packing a diamond anytime soon.
